The Australian Tang Soo Do Academy was established in 1987 in Melbourne, Australia as a traditional martial art school with emphasis on traditional training of students both physically and mentally.
The physical training is to gain fitness, control weight and conditioning while for mind training and character development breathing techniques are practised to develop focus of mind.
All students are expected to conduct themselves with humility, integrity and self-control and use TSD for self-defence only if necessary. This proven training method helps develop students with a balanced lifestyle live in the modern world.
The Academy was the first affiliated WTSDA (USA) school in Australia from 1987 till 1993. In 1994 it joined the ITSD MDK Fed (UK) through the formation of the Australian Tang Soo Do MDK Federation (since dissolved). In 2001, the Academy’s members had a major part in organising the 9th ITSD MDK Fed. international championship held in Melbourne, Australia for the first time.
Since 2002, the Academy has been an independent school headed by founder and Chief Instructor, Master Ivan C H Tnay # 17072. who has over 40 years of martial arts training.
In addition to Master Tnay, the 3 other instructors teaching at the Academy are Master Darren Thompson, Master Damien Brady and Dr Gerri Marmor.
The Academy through Master Tnay has contact with other TSD master instructors/schools in USA, Canada, Malaysia, UK and Holland.
